Mill Lake, Bucharest, Romania - a modern day ghosts legendThis is the place where, until 1987, was the “Crangasi” cemetery and “Saint Nicholas” church, dating back to the 16th century.
During the communist regime, between 1985 and 1987, people were forced to remove the remains of their dead ones and bury them elsewhere. The graves that weren’t empty by the deadline were dug with excavators and there are stories about people who came and took a random bone to bury, having no other way to identify their family. It is estimated that as much as 11000 human remains were moved during a period of two months under the supervision of Ministry of Interior’s Directorate for Militia and the Directorate for Security Troops.
The church was demolished during one of the greatest orthodox holidays, “Emperor Constantine and Empress Helena”, on May 21, 1986.The lake is now the biggest in Bucharest, with a surface of 2.46 square km (0.95 sq miles) and a volume of 14.7 million cubic meters.Fishermen report strange lights flowing above the lake on summer nights, more than 100 people lost their lives while swimming there, lots of car crashes, resulting in fatal injuries, were recorded on the bridge over the dam…

hehe. nice. and i run around this lake:) and i has also beautiful sunsets.
